DECEMBER 11 UPDATE
NEW ASA SELECTION COMMITTEES
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Amateur Softball Association
(ASA) of America announced today the members of the selection committees for the
2010-2012 seasons for both the USA Softball Women's National Team and USA
Softball Men’s National Team. These committees will select the athletes that
will represent USA Softball in International competition during the noted years.
The 2010-2012 Women’s National Team Selection Committee members include:
Sam Ducato -- ASA Member
Amy Hillenbrand -- Athlete Representative
Jay Miller – Women’s National Team Head Coach
Glenn Morrison -- ASA Member
Ralph Weekly -- Allied Member
The 2010-2012 Men’s National Team Selection Committee members include:
Warren Jones -- ASA Member
Dan Highland -- ASA Member
Doug Lindeman -- ASA Member
Kyle Magnusson -- Athlete Representative
Peter Turner – Men’s National Team Head Coach
The schedule of events for the 2010 season for both the men and women will be
announced at a later date at

NPF NEWS
The Pride is proud to announce that Lauren Lappin has signed a contract for the 2010 season. Lauren is a graduate of Stanford University. Lauren is not only looking forward to playing for the Pride, but also becoming involved with the USSSA Fast Pitch program. Lauren is an Assistant Softball Coach at Northwestern University in Illinois. (Lauren was a member of the 2008 USA Olympic team, which won the Silver medal at the Beijing Olympics; she was an alternate on the 2004 team in Athens, and has been invited to the January 4 national team camp.)

REPORTS IN PROCESS
SPY will provide an in-depth report on the just-concluded NFCA Convention in Nashville, including plans for NFCA-sponsored travel ball tournaments in 2011. This report should publish on Sunday.
SPY will publish an editorial, “Why Don Porter Should Resign” which will reflect the widespread turmoil in the international program following Porter’s decision to pull the XII World Championship out of Oklahoma City in 2010. The editorial will draw on an expand remarks in NFCA open session on Thursday by Rayburn Hesse This report will publish on Sunday as well.
