AUSTRALIAN TOURING TEAMS
The Australians in 2009 will field what are essentially two national teams, with some crossover, for different international tournaments. A number of observers have expressed hope that USA Softball will follow a similar line, which would allow more flexibility for national team players who have professional contracts. Note also that a number of key Australian players are contracted to teams in Italy, just as a dozen American players compete for corporate teams in Japan.
The following
athletes have been selected into the Aussie Spirit team to participate in the
Canada Cup (Vancouver), US World Cup (Oklahoma) and exhibition games in
California. The team will arrive in Vancouver on the 30th June and depart Los
Angeles on the 26th July.
